Ding! The fake electronic bell of my phone signals to me from across the room, perhaps a match. Ding! That must be the first message. I wonder what it will say this time. Perhaps another cheesy pickup-line, a compliment on my appearance, rude comment about my tits, or maybe just a simple hello. I still cannot believe that I let Laura talk me into downloading this damn app. It has been three months and I have had five first dates and only one second date.

Ding! A second message? Probably the second half to some terrible pickup line that was found on the internet, maybe a pun to do with my name. It is always the same pattern though. I find his pictures, looking strong and hot just like my coffee, I hit yes and wait for the ding.

Ding! Three-part joke? I guess I should check my phone now. Hey gorgeous! Alright, part one there. Your bio states that your hip is stiff, and you have been feeling kinda old. One line for part two and just repeating my biography to me, pretty lame. How about I come over later, crack those hips for you and pump that youthful feeling into you again. The punchline has arrived, and I think I’ll leave this one for a bit, maybe Laura can help me with how to reply.

Ding! It’s only been 30 minutes and he is already messaging me again. Ding! Let's check my phone and see what is. Oh, it’s a new match and message. A simple hello and how are you today has arrived on my phone. He seems polite with a kind smile and quite blue eyes. I have seen him before, a local boy involved in the summer camps and school. My day is good, what about yours? Simple replies for simple messages, keep it relaxed. Ding! I haven’t even put my phone away and a message back already? Is he desperate or just good timing? His day has been long and now he is just relaxing on the couch with his dog. What kind of dog is it? I didn’t see a picture on your profile.

Ding! Our replies are quick, and time is flying past. Neither of us sleep until three in the morning. Each message is a smile, and the connection is great. My roommates left the couch around midnight but helped me greatly with making those first impressions. I don’t usually ask for a date on the first day, but he promised that we could go for a walk with his dog tomorrow afternoon. I’m excited.

Ding! Good night and see you tomorrow.
